# 7. Service learning project

Last class, we have discussed about our plan and tried to fix them to make it better. We tried to edit those plans by let students from the class asking questions.
I and Tom were explaining our plan to everyone and also Ms. Joanne. We talked about where we will meet for studying. What would we do on each day, what is our goal, what ESLRs we will meet. All students have shared their ideas and came up with some questions like, how would you use a Chinese language because you’re not going to live at Taiwan or China. And I answered her that even I’m not living there, I would use it because nowadays, Chinese people are everywhere around the world and that is the most important language to know. It’s good for communicating for the business. By doing this would help me grow up more because it would make me have an experience to teach other people Thai and to learn Chinese. I would have a role more on a leadership because I have to plan for everything and I will teach him my way. I have to respect the time for a good leader and good teacher.
For my project, as I am Thai and I can speak Thai very well, I can teach Tom in my language very comfortable. I would teach him for daily life stuffs like, how to buy a BTS tickets, how to order food, asking for direction, and then I will fix his pronunciations.I’ll make him understand easily buy giving him an example and he would remember it easily.

#6. Community Service plan

My community service is about teaching Thai language to foreigner. My purpose is to make he able to join Thai-people's conversation while they're eating at the restuarant or they're at school. The person that I will teach is my Taiwanese friend who is living here in Thailand for 4 years and he couldn't speak or join the conversation. I will prepare for Tom by starting with writing the words on the card and makes him read it, pronounce it, repeat the words and try to remember them. Then after he learns many words, I will teach him to use those words to speak in a sentence. We might have a technology studying like, using a webcam to see each other face and then talk by the microphone. I will teach Tom on Saturday for five weeks with no cost. I think the challenge that I will face is the time. Maybe Tom or me might be busy on the day that we will have a lesson. So I have to make a time table for myself and make sure that I will be free on that day and also for Tom. Another challenge that i would face is anger of Tom because Thai language is difficult, so he might takes long time to remember it, so I need to be calm for him to feel comfortable to study with me. Those are what I have plan so far.

#5. ESLRs that my group will meet

After I have planned for the community project, our group would meet 4 ESRLS which are Self-directed learner, Caring Global Citizen, Tennology proficient. I will use self-directed learner because i have to plan and think by myself how to prepare to teach Tom and make it fun. Caring Global Citizen is for respect and be responsible for the time. Make decisions of what is important to teach him. We also use Technology proficient because we would use the webcam for the lesson.

#4. Interview for my community about Thai language

After I have interviewed Tom about what would he want to study in Thai, He said that want to speak Thai because now he lives in Thailand which all people are Thai and even in school, he wants to know what people are talking about, so he won’t feel like he’s out of there.He lives in Thailand for 4 years already. I found out that he can’t really introduce himself, he only know basic one like Sa-wat-dee-krub, Kor-todd-kub, so I’ll prepare for him to be able to be proud to introduce himself. I also let him say some Thai words and he couldn’t pronounce it properly, so I’ll teach him to pronounce the correct sounds. I’ll tell him the meaning of words. I’ll teach him about school’s words, so he will know how to say it while he’s at school. I can teach him at lunch time and any free time. I will not cost time any money. My purpose is to make him speak Thai that people use it often in a daily life. I want foreigners to be able to speak Thai language because I want my country to be very popular like English. I can see that most of countries around the world can speak English and what if I want Thai language to be like that. So, I’ll start with only one guy who is Tom and if he knows more and more, then he can go teach his brother or his family, then after they know more, the knowledge of Thai language will spread out and more foreigners will know it.
