Reflection by using ESLRs/ix Pillars

I have read 5 stories and the question of those stories is “How can one make a difference?” From last class, I tried to use ESLRs and Six Pillar of Character Counts. I chose a story named Born to be Rabble-Rouser and it was about a guy who fights for the civil rights. I could describe the actions of character of the story by using 5 ESLRs from 6. The first ESLR is Effective Communicator in English and the six pillars is responsibility because people in there should be able to speak English for communicating with others to help their community. The second one is Complex Thinker and responsibility. I used it because people should have some knowledge, so that they need to study, then they would be able to think of many plans and fight.
The third one is Self-Directed Learner with the word “Trustworthiness”. People should work hard by themselves for planning things or something else in support of right. The fourth one is Team player with the six pillars called respect. This one is the most important thing because people are working as a group and they can share many ideas, so they need to listen to others, cooperate for the best result. And the last one is Caring Global Citizen because by looking forward to the word FAIRNESS, people should separate black and white people because they are totally the same. The only different is their skin color. If they use these ESLRs and six pillars then it will be different and become a better place to live.

  1. I appreciate your discussion for it is thoughtful. You show that you can extend thinking in the classroom. For example, connecting fairness (character counts) to eliminating racial prejudice. I think you are right, that other people can use these ESLRs and the Six Pillars to make the world a better place. Don't you think you can too? I would have liked you to take reflection personally, too.
