#3. Why would a need/gap analysis be a good idea?

I’ve studied in the class about asking janitor personal questions in topic of who wanted to study English language and we came up with 12 questions. After I asked janitor, she said she’s Thai and she said that she only know a very Basic English like hello, bye, sorry, thank you. She said that when she talked to teachers, she was a kind of scare because she wasn’t confident enough and she didn’t have knowledge in English. And the most important question I asked her was “Do you want to be able to speak English” and she said yes because she wanted to communicate with foreigners. She has to work for 6 days a week, so it means that the only day she’s free is on Sunday. But Sunday is ok for her to study English because she don’t need to take care of her daughters. They are both over age of twenty. She said that she and her daughters were all wanted to study English even its low cost, but it would be better if the price is free.
Janitor needs to study about school-based vocabulary amd phrases.

By having that information about her. It showed that she want to study English even she only have one day break. She wants to speak English with no shy and proud to speak English. It makes them feel more comfortable and that would be awesome for our school because those janitors will be able to speak English with teachers, students, and visitors. It’s good for both sides. For them, they can speak English, and for us, teacher or students can ask them to help easier. If our janitor can speak English, I think our school will look more reliability because less of Thai international schools have janitor that can speak English well. It is also good for their future life because her daughters can speak English and then they can have a better job.
